Covered the moment
tokens clear.

AutoTurn runs a three-layer commercial insurance program — garagekeepers, commercial auto, and an umbrella above both. It is primary coverage the moment a trade settles, so your personal policy is never touched, notified, or put at risk.

Three layers of protection
01
In our care
Garagekeepers
Protects the vehicle while it's in AutoTurn's custody between trades — in transport, in storage, and at handoff. Theft, vandalism, fire, and in-storage damage are covered even when no one is driving.
Theft & vandalism
Fire & weather
In-storage damage
02
On the road
Commercial Auto
Covers the drive itself during an active trade window — physical damage to the vehicle plus third-party liability for injury and property damage caused to others.
Collision & comprehensive
Third-party liability
Uninsured motorist
03
Above both
Umbrella
Sits on top of the underlying policies and extends their limits for catastrophic claims — the rare, high-severity event that would exceed a standard policy.
Excess limits
Catastrophic claims

Covered through handoff
No paperwork, no phone calls — activation and deactivation are automatic, tied to the trade itself.
Your policy stays out of it

Primary, not secondary.

Most car-sharing coverage is secondary — a claim runs through your personal insurer first. AutoTurn's commercial program is primary during the trade, so your own policy never enters the picture.

Typical car-sharing
Filed through your own policy
A claim hits your personal insurer first
Your rates can rise after someone else's incident
Many insurers exclude peer-to-peer sharing entirely
Coverage gaps between pickup, drive, and return

One program covers every party, every window
The honest list

What's covered — and what isn't.

Covered
During the active trade window
Collision & comprehensive damage
Liability for injury or property damage to others
Uninsured / underinsured motorist protection
Theft, fire, and vandalism while in our care
Pre- and post-trade condition inspection
Not covered
Standard exclusions
Personal belongings left in the vehicle
Use outside the booked trade window
Prohibited use — racing, track, off-road, or illegal activity
Tickets, tolls, and fines
Ordinary wear and tear
Damage responsibility
Clear accountability.

The member who caused damage covers the deductible — disclosed at signup and set in your member agreement. Because every handoff is documented with timestamped photos, responsibility is never a he-said-she-said.

Inspection
Documented both ways.

AutoTurn staff inspect every vehicle at pickup and return. Photos are timestamped and logged, and any discrepancy is flagged on the spot. That record is what lets claims resolve in hours, not months.

If something happens

A claim, step by step.

Step 01

Report it

Flag the incident in the app or to AT staff. If anyone is hurt or it's a major collision, call emergency services first — safety before paperwork.

Step 02

Document

The pre-trade inspection photos are already on file. We pair them with photos of the new damage to establish exactly what changed, and when.

Step 03

Adjuster review

AutoTurn files the claim under its commercial policy and works the adjuster directly. Your personal insurer is never contacted.

Step 04

Resolution

Repairs are arranged and the responsible member is billed the deductible. The clean photo record keeps disputes rare and timelines short.

Coverage limits, deductibles, and exclusions are defined in the AutoTurn Member Agreement and shown in full before you accept any trade. This page is a plain-language summary, not the policy itself, and is not insurance or legal advice.
Common Questions

Insurance FAQ.

Does AutoTurn’s insurance replace my personal policy?
No. AutoTurn’s commercial coverage is entirely separate and is primary during active trades. It activates only when a trade settles, and your personal policy is never notified or involved.
Who is liable during pickup, the drive, and return?
Coverage is continuous across the whole window. Garagekeepers covers the car while it’s in our care at handoff and in storage; commercial auto covers the drive. There is no gap between the steps.
What’s the deductible if my car is damaged?
The member responsible for the damage pays the deductible. The amount is disclosed at signup and set in your member agreement, and AT staff document every handoff so responsibility is clear.
What if someone gets in an accident while driving my car?
AutoTurn’s commercial liability policy covers third-party claims during the active window, and the umbrella layer extends limits for severe events. The responsible member owes the deductible; AT handles the claim end to end.
What about theft or a total loss?
Theft, fire, and vandalism are covered while the vehicle is in our care, and comprehensive coverage applies during the trade. A total-loss claim is settled under the commercial policy per the terms in your member agreement.
Is coverage different for T1 vs T10 vehicles?
Coverage applies across all tiers. Higher-tier vehicles may carry higher deductibles, specified in the member agreement. You always see the full coverage terms before accepting a trade.
